Word Search Maker is built so that your data never leaves your device.
What we collect
Nothing. The extension does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal data. Specifically:
- The words and titles you enter are processed entirely inside your browser and are never uploaded.
- Puzzles are generated by code bundled inside the extension; there is no server, no API, and no dataset to download.
- The extension does not use analytics, tracking, cookies, advertising, or fingerprinting. This website uses privacy-friendly, cookieless, anonymous page-view analytics (self-hosted Umami) — no personal data, no cookies, no cross-site tracking.
- The extension makes no network requests of any kind. There is no server, no database, and no account.
How your data is processed
Word placement, grid generation, printing, and PNG export all run locally in your browser using bundled code. Your word lists are not retained after you close the tab; the only thing stored locally is a small counter for the optional “rate us” prompt, kept in your browser and never transmitted.
Permissions
The extension requests no permissions at all — no host access, no access to your browsing data. Clicking the toolbar icon simply opens the maker in a new tab.
Third parties
None. No data is shared with any third party because no data is collected.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be published at this same location with a new effective date.
